Covington

Picturesque small-town lifestyle just minutes outside of Cincinnati.

Welcome to Covington

Only ten minutes outside of Cincinnati and just across the Ohio River lies one of Kentucky’s most attractive and charming communities. What was once a run-down manufacturing town has now become some of the most desirable real estate in the area. Its pristinely maintained parks and gardens and beautifully restored architecture that harkens back to when the city was first built have turned this community into a popular destination.

John Gano, Richard Gano, and Thomas Carneal initially purchased 150 acres of land in 1814 and quickly began drawing up plans for Covington’s settlement within the same year. In 1834 the town became an official city of Kentucky, seeing a dramatic rise in population due to the highly prosperous cigar and tobacco industries in the area. Today, the thriving town is known for its picturesque scenery and small-town charm just minutes from Cincinnati’s bustling business.

People & Lifestyle

The community’s serenity and vibrant atmosphere and its proximity to the larger neighboring cities have made Covington extremely popular. However, even with its level of desirability, the town has maintained a certain level of affordability, making it the ideal location for young professionals and families looking to settle down.

The community’s diversity has also led to its numerous cultural and art centers where many residents enjoy holding annual events and weekly get-togethers where the town can reinforce its sense of community. There is also a distinct appreciation for recreational and educational activities as well as leading a healthy lifestyle.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

There is certainly no shortage of places to go for a night out in this energetic community. Covington’s dining and entertainment scene are one of the best, with spectacular shopping centers and world-class eateries for residents to choose from. Mainstrasse Village is one of the most popular destinations in town, and it’s easy to see why. This 19th-century German neighborhood is now filled with beautiful boutiques, delicious restaurants, and one-of-a-kind art galleries. This part of town also hosts numerous annual events, such as GoettaFest, where residents can get a taste of everything German.

Braxton Brewing Company is another popular stop for Covington residents. Their stunning and inviting tasting room and wide range of brews help to ensure there’s something for everyone who walks through their doors. Or, if you enjoy hand-crafted cocktails, then you need to stop by The Hannaford at Pike + Madison. This unique bar offers some of the best housemade cocktails and high-end liquors in town.

Things to Do

While Cincinnati is right around the corner, Covington itself has a tremendous amount of things for residents to do without them ever having to leave the neighborhood. Devou Park is one of the most beloved areas in the city, with jaw-dropping views, numerous walking trails, lakes and fishing areas, and even a golf course.

Madison Theater is another beloved local hotspot. This restored movie theater hosts some of the hottest rock-music acts and other events where residents can let loose. The Mainstrasse Village also holds an annual pub crawl during Mardi Gras, with all the local restaurants offering fantastic drink specials before, during, and after the parade.

Covington is also home to the Northern KY Convention Center. This state-of-the-art center offers numerous educational, cultural, and entertainment events throughout the year for residents to enjoy.
